Pompeii Archaeological Park

Pompeii was an ancient city located in what is today the comune of Pompei, near Naples in Italy’s Campania region. The city, along with Herculaneum, Stabiae, and many neighbouring villas, was buried under 4 to 6 metres (13 to 20 feet) of volcanic ash and pumice during Mount Vesuvius’ eruption in 79 AD.
