Fjaðrárgljúfur is a breathtaking canyon in South Iceland, approximately 100 meters deep and 2 kilometers long, carved by glacial waters over millennia. Located near Kirkjubæjarklaustur, it’s easily accessible via a short detour from Route 1 onto Road 206. A well-marked trail along the canyon’s edge leads to multiple viewpoints, including a platform overlooking the Mögáfoss waterfall. The hike is about 2 km round trip and typically takes under an hour. Parking costs 1,000 ISK (~€7), payable through the Parka app or online.
