Machu Picchu

Perched atop a 7,970-foot mountain crest in southern Peru’s Eastern Cordillera is the 15th-century Inca stronghold of Machu Picchu. It is the most well-known symbol of the Inca Empire and is frequently referred to as the “Lost City of the Incas”. It is situated 80 kilometres northwest of Cusco in the Machupicchu District of the Urubamba Province, above the Sacred Valley.
