Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center


Mendenhall Glacier, also known as “Sít” in Tlingit, is a glacier situated in Mendenhall Valley, approximately 12 miles (19 km) from Juneau’s downtown, in the southeast region of the U.S. state of Alaska. It measures around 13.6 miles (21.9 km) in length. The 2,353 hectare Mendenhall Glacier Recreation Area, a federally recognized area of the Tongass National Forest, includes the glacier and the surrounding environment under protection.
