Old State House Museum

The oldest state capitol structure still standing west of the Mississippi River is the Old State House, formerly known as the Arkansas State House. It served as the venue for both the secession convention and the fourth constitutional convention, where delegates decided to create public education and guarantee freedmen’s ability to vote.
