The most populated city in the US is New York, sometimes known as NYC. With an estimated 8,804,190 inhabitants in 2020, New York City is the most densely populated major city in the United States. It has a population that is more than twice that of Los Angeles, the country’s second-largest metropolis, and even more than all of Quebec combined. The southernmost point of New York State is where New York City is situated.

New York City is made up of five boroughs, each of which is coextensive with a certain county of the state of New York. It is situated on one of the greatest natural harbours in the world and extends into the Atlantic Ocean. The five boroughs are Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, The Bronx, and Staten Island. They were established in 1898 after local governments were combined into an unified municipal organisation.

 Bryant Park

Located in the Manhattan neighbourhood of New York City, Bryant Park is a public park. It is privately run and situated in Midtown Manhattan between Fifth Avenue and Avenue of the Americas (Sixth Avenue) and between 40th and 42nd Streets. The Main Branch of the New York Public Library is located in Bryant Park’s eastern portion. The western part is entirely situated over an underground structure that holds the library’s stacks and features a lawn, covered paths, and attractions like a carousel.

Because to its proximity to the Croton Distributing Reservoir, the park’s initial opening was in 1847 and it was given the name Reservoir Square. The New York Crystal Palace, which housed the Exhibition of the Industry of All Nations in 1853 and was destroyed by fire in 1858, was located in Reservoir Square.

 Times Square

In Midtown Manhattan, Times Square is a significant commercial crossroads, a popular tourist destination, an entertainment centre, and a neighbourhood. It is created by the intersection of 42nd Street, Broadway, and Seventh Avenue. Times Square is a five-block area in the shape of a bowtie that extends from 42nd to 47th Streets, together with neighbouring Duffy Square.

Times Square is sometimes referred to as “the Crossroads of the World,” “the Center of the Universe,” “the Heart of the Great White Way,” “the Center of the Entertainment Universe,” and “the Heart of the World” due to the abundance of digital billboards and advertisements as well as businesses that provide 24-hour service.

The New York Times moved its offices to the then-newly constructed Times Building, today known as One Times Square, in 1904, changing the area’s name from Longacre Square to Times Square. On December 31, 1907, the first New Year’s Eve ball drop took place here, and it has since drawn over a million people to Times Square every year.

The New Year’s Eve ball drop takes place in Times Square every year. On New Year’s Eve, Times Square is crowded with almost a million revellers, more than twice the daily average of visitors to the area.

Times Square is an instantly identifiable landmark that has appeared many times in books, movies, video games, music videos, and television shows.

In several films, Times Square has been fictitiously attacked and destroyed, including Knowing; Deep Impact; the Ghostbusters movies; Godzilla (1998); Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen; and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. In the 2002 movie Spider-Man’s battle sequence and in The Amazing Spider-Man 2’s standoff battles.

The New York Public Library

In New York City, there is a system of public libraries called the New York Public Library (NYPL). The New York Public Library is the second-largest public library in the United States (after the Library of Congress) and the fourth-largest in the world, with about 53 million items spread across 92 locations. It is a private, non-governmental, independently run nonprofit corporation that receives funding from both the public and commercial sectors.

The library is affiliated with academic and professional libraries in the New York metropolitan area and has branches in the boroughs of Staten Island, Manhattan, and the Bronx. Brooklyn and Queens, the other two boroughs of the city, are not served by the New York Public Library system, but rather by the Brooklyn Public Library and the Queens Public Library, which are part of their respective borough library systems. The circulating libraries are located in the branch libraries, which are accessible to the general public.

The phrase “New York Public Library” may also refer to the institution’s Main Branch, which is distinguished by the Patience and Fortitude lion statues that flank the entrance. The year was 1965.

The Barbara Goldsmith Preservation Division, which has a staff of 10 (as of 2010) but is designed for up to 30 employees, is located on the third floor of the Library Services Center. The ordering and cataloguing office, which was formerly located in the Main Branch building, is located on the first floor.

Rockefeller Center

Rockefeller Center is a sizable complex made up of 19 commercial buildings spread across 22 acres in Midtown Manhattan, New York City, between 48th Street and 51st Street. The Rockefeller family commissioned 14 original Art Deco structures, which now line the space between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, and divided it with Rockefeller Plaza, a vast sunken square. At the northern end of Rockefeller Plaza across 51st Street are two later additions: 75 Rockefeller Plaza; and on the western side of Sixth Avenue are four International Style structures.

As NBC’s The Today Show is located near Rockefeller Center, many People begin their mornings there. Each year, thousands of people travel to Rockefeller Center to see the towering tree and lovely holiday decorations, which draw even more visitors throughout the Christmas season. The ideal tree is sought out annually from a helicopter, and once it is located, it is transported to Rockefeller Center. This well-known Christmas tree is recycled by Habitat for Humanity and is kept lit until the week after New Year’s Day.

Many movies have included Rockefeller Center, including Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, where Macaulay Culkin’s character Kevin (who is reunited with his mother at the Christmas tree in the last scene), Autumn in New York, Mr. Deeds, and Elf.

Wall Street

Eight blocks long Wall Street is located in Lower Manhattan’s Financial District. It is located in New York City. It stretches from South Street and the East River in the east to Broadway in the west. Wall Street has come to stand in for the entire US financial system, the US financial services sector, New York-based financial interests, or even just the Financial District itself. New York, which is anchored by Wall Street, has been referred to as the primary financial hub of the world.

The New York Stock Exchange, the largest stock exchange in the world by total market capitalization, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, numerous commercial banks, and insurance firms are all located in the Wall Street region. The American Stock Exchange, the New York Mercantile Exchange, and other commodity futures exchanges are among the stock and commodity exchanges that have a presence in midtown Manhattan, close to Wall Street. Many brokerage firms had offices close to the exchanges to support the business they conducted there. But, Wall Street actions have a global impact on the economy directly.

Statue Of Liberty

The Statue of Liberty, also known as Liberty Enlightening the World in French, is a massive neoclassical monument located on Liberty Island in New York Harbor in the United States. The copper monument, a gift from the French people, was created by French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, and Gustave Eiffel constructed its metal framework. October 28, 1886 saw the dedication of the statue.

The statue depicts Libertas, a robed Roman goddess of liberty. Her left hand holds a tabula ansata with the words JULY IV MDCCLXXVI (July 4, 1776 in Roman numerals), the date of the U.S. Declaration of Independence, while her right hand holds a torch above her head. As she advances, she leaves a broken shackle and chain at her feet as a tribute to the recent abolition of slavery in this country. Following its dedication, the statue rose to fame as a symbol of American freedom and openness to immigrants travelling by sea.

The Statue of Liberty National Monument, which includes Liberty Island and Ellis Island together with the statue, is located in Upper New York Bay. In 1800, New York gave the federal government control over both islands. The original islands, albeit situated on the New Jersey side of the state line, remain part of New York territory as stipulated in an 1834 compact between New York and New Jersey that established the state border at the middle of the bay.

By purchasing their boat ticket, visitors who want to enter the statue’s base and pedestal must purchase pedestal access for a small price. A special ticket must be bought in order to ascend the statue’s staircase to the crown; reservations can be made up to a year in advance.

Grand Central Terminal

Grand Central Terminal, commonly known as Grand Central Station, is a commuter rail station situated in Midtown Manhattan at the intersection of 42nd Street and Park Avenue. The northern regions of the New York metropolitan area are served by the Metro-North Railroad’s Harlem, Hudson, and New Haven Lines, which have Grand Central as their southern terminal. The Grand Central Madison station at Grand Central features a connection to the Long Island Rail Road as well. The terminal also has a subway connection to New York City. After Toronto Union Station and New York Penn Station, the terminal is the busiest train station in North America.

Grand Central Terminal’s station house has received numerous landmark designations, including National Historic Landmark, in recognition of its outstanding architecture and interior design. Several pieces of art are incorporated into its Beaux-Arts architecture. Grand Central Terminal received 21.6 million visits in 2018, excluding train and subway passengers, making it one of the top ten most popular tourist destinations worldwide.

Scenes filmed in the terminal have appeared in numerous motion pictures and television shows. The Avengers, I Am Legend, Hackers, John Wick: Chapter 3, and Men in Black II are a few examples.

One World Trade Center

The main structure of the reconstructed World Trade Center complex in Lower Manhattan, New York City, is known as One World Trade Center, commonly referred to as One WTC, and was formerly known as the Freedom Tower (although it is still occasionally used informally). One World Trade Center, the tallest structure in the United States, the tallest structure in the Western Hemisphere, and the seventh-tallest structure in the world, was created by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill architect David Childs. The incredibly tall building shares its name with the old World Trade Center’s North Tower, which was demolished after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

On floors 100-102 of the One World Observatory tower, there is a three-story viewing deck in addition to the broadcast and antenna capabilities already present. It is the highest vantage point in New York City at 1,268 feet in height. Visitors to the observation deck and tenants have their own separate entrances, similar to the Empire State Building. One entrance is on the building’s West Street side, while the other is from inside the shopping centre, lowering down to a below-ground security screening area. The observation deck’s real viewing area is located on the 100th floor, although there is also a food court and a venue for events on the 101st and 102nd floors, respectively.

After the September 11 attacks, the World Trade Center site, sometimes known as “Ground Zero,” became a memorial to the original World Trade Center complex.
